The Beaver Buddies

Edition of 9, 24"H

This two-figure sculpture was originally commissioned by the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation with installations in both Riverside and Jacob Schiff Park, Manhattan Island.  Opening in 2012, Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro, Oregon, has placed an emphasis on adding Northwest artwork in its halls and courtyard. This pair of bronze beavers by Shelley S. Curtiss was purchased for the project by Studio Art Direct, Inc. "to create a healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the new 126-bed Kaiser Permanente hospital and specialty medical office under the unifying theme of Tranquil Relief Through Nature." The entire collection has also been published in a hard-cover book format under the same title, @2013 Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest.
