The Matrix

The word matrix comes from the same root as the words: mother, matter, meter, measure, menses, and moon. She is the mystery of the darkness, the point of transformation, whereby yin meets yang, volatile meets inert – where intent becomes form: Creation.

This piece is a special project sculpted during my term as Artist in Residence at Eastern Oregon University and was accompanied by lectures on Sacred Geometry (geo – "earth", metry – "mother").
